Innovative RAS solutions to implement in Spain
17 Nov 2022
APRIA Systems will test ELOXIRAS® RAS solution in CUPIMAR and Spanish Institute of Oceanography
Interreg Atlantic Area funded SAFER partnership through its Open Call awarded 5 organisations in the Atlantic Area to implement Industry 4.0 technological solutions that provide efficient processes, improved and sustainable production.

Two of those organisations, CUPIMAR (Cultivos Piscícolas Marinos) (Spain) and Oceanographic Center of Santander, Spanish Institute of Oceanography COST-IEO (CSIC) (Spain) will test two ELOXIRAS® prototypes from SAFER partner APRIA Systems.

ELOXIRAS® is an aquaculture solution consisting in an innovative process for the treatment and reuse of marine and brackish water. It is developed to enhance the productivity and to reduce the environmental impact of recirculating aquaculture systems (RAS). Based on the electrochemical oxidation technology, it only requires an electrical potential between two electrodes in water.

CUPIMAR (Cultivos Piscícolas Marinos) is a company that grows, breeds, and fattens soles. It has been dedicated to marine aquaculture for more than 30 years. CUPIMAR takes advantage of the resources of the Bahía de Cádiz natural park, where its facilities are located and sole is produced, in an impeccably respectful way with the environment. In tune with this environment, marine aquaculture carried out within natural parks respects both quality and the environment.

Oceanographic Center of Santander, Spanish Institute of Oceanography COST-IEO (CSIC) is a public Research Organisation devoted to Marine Sciences including Marine Aquaculture, with experience in full cycle of fish production, fish nutrition, invertebrate aquaculture, seaweed aquaculture, multitrophic aquaculture.
