SAFER awarded to extend its impact into the seafood sector
7 Apr 2022
SAFER team is delighted to announce that the project has received additional funding for additional activities till June 2023
Interreg Atlantic Area funded Smart Atlantic Seafood Clusters (SAFER) project has been awarded an extension to continue working with the implementation of the project until June 2023, the funding was allocated through a ‘Call 3’ for project extension and capitalisation as part of the existing 2014–2020 programme.

Interreg Atlantic Area received 52 applications from projects for extension and capitalisation aiming to add more value to the Atlantic regions, with 23 projects selected to receive approximately €8.4 million in additional funding.

This additional funding will enable SAFER to undertake further actions to improve the innovation performance of the seafood sector by increasing technology adoption in the Atlantic Area.

Demonstration to industry, an open call to extend SAFER pilots into new seafood companies, clustering activities with Atlantic Area FANBEST project and capitalisation of project outputs and results are included among these additional activities.

We are delighted for having received this additional funding that will enable us to extend the SAFER solutions into new seafood companies allowing us to increase the successful results we obtained during the previous part of the project”, says Jose Manuel San Emeterio, ERNACT Programme Manager and lead partner of the SAFER project.
